Recently, Facebook released their new Timeline format worldwide, and that means that Open Graph functionality will be available for everyone soon.

Anybody who develops with Facebook functionality probably knows about the new Open Graph concept, but i'll explain for those who haven't heard. With Open Graph (OG), developers will be able to have their applications share data seamlessly with the Facebook Timelines of their users. For example, if you happen to have a website that publishes lots of articles and you want to get more exposure, you can use OG to your advantage. What do is define "actions" and "objects" on the Facebook developer site, which in this case would probably be "read" and "article", respectively.

With your actions and objects defined, and when you have finished the rest of the set up (you can go to the site and see for yourself), you can set up links on your site that will allow your visitors to make a lasting connection between your site and their Timelines. To clarify, if someone adds your site/app to their Timeline, you can send whatever data to their Timeline you want as long as they have authorized your site/app. For the article site, you could automatically share articles with their Timeline every time they happen to read one, similar to the Washington Post Social Reader that so many people use nowadays. When one of their friends happens to click on that post, they will be directed to authorize your app and go to your site too, then they will begin sharing with their friends.

Facebook will undoubtedly be releasing more nifty functionality for their OG system very soon, so keep on the look out. These new additions are very powerful and can make a huge difference in your app making and exposure.
