The good news is that the application is now available for download. It has been tested on the Motorola Droid and Nexus One, so those will be your best bets, though it does require Android 2.0 or above, regardless, for installation.
Above is a neat demo video of Fennec, the mobile version of Firefox.
As the title says, this is a pre-alpha version, so there are many bugs that will probably slow down your experience. If you do plan to install it, I recommend reading this post, perhaps multiple times, to make sure you're set up right. Also note the following bugs and quirks:
t will likely not eat your phone, but bugs might cause your phone to stop responding, requiring a reboot.
Memory usage of this build isn't great - in many ways it's a debug build, and we haven't really done a lot of optimization yet. This could cause some problems with large pages, especially on low memory devices like the Droid.
You'll see the app exit and relaunch on first start, as well as on add-on installs; this is a quirk of our install process, and we're working to get rid of it.
You can't open links from other apps using Fennec; we should have this for the next build.
This build requires Android 2.0 or above, and likely an OpenGL ES 2.0 capable device.
Edit: This build must be installed to internal memory, not to a SD card.
There are a few ways to download the app. You can go to find here). They've also set up a Google Groupso you can report any feedback.
I'm going to give this a try later in the afternoon, just to see what it's all about. At this point, though, it sounds like something for the hardcore users. The frustration of dealing with the bugs and quirks might be a bit too much for most people.
