When dealing with Internet technologies, following trends seems to be the norm. What one company does successfully, the others will probably mimic in some shape or form. With this in mind, Yahoo has also announced that they too will be releasing a desktop search utility in the near future.

According to an article that appeared in Reuters, Yahoo CEO Terry Semel revealed that his company was indeed preparing a utility that will perform functions similar to those of Blinkx, Copernic, and the Google Desktop Search. "Yahoo is working on it. In short course, we'll have a desktop solution as well," Semel said at a conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Has of today, Yahoo has not indicated a date on which their desktop search utility will be available. Thanks to Andy Beal for the heads up.
